thing 5

Mario...camera shy!

thing 4

I was able to open a Flickr account and download a few pictures of my dog, Mario (with help from Suzanne and Shannon...thank you!). Mario didn't want me to take his picture this morning. I had to corner him. I emailed the pictures to my son, a student at UW, Madison. It's a cool way to keep and share photos. Hope I remember how to do it next time.

thing 3

I watched the video on RSS and then set up my account at googlereader. Now I have news and blogs coming right to me! How fun is that.

thing 2

It was interesting to read the articles and blogs and watch the videos about Library 2.0/Web 2.0. It was amazing to see some of the technology available out there, such as cybercity on infoisland.org. Technology is growing leaps and bounds and certainly libraries, as information providers, will improve and enhance their services as they incorporate these new technologies. However, I hope it's not at the expense of the library staff. John Blyberg, in his blog, says that restructuring will be needed, such as buying a coder instead of hiring a reference librarian. Maybe I'm old fashioned and I don't even know what a coder is, but I would like to see new technology used to enhance current services, not replace staff with them.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to working my way down the next 21 things.

thing 1 blogging

Thank you to Kristin from the Chaska Library for coming over and helping me get set up for 23 things on the stick. It was fun getting started and creating my avatar, a cute red-headed girl who looks like she can do yoga much better than I can. I learned how to create a yahoo account and set up a blog. I'm an official blogger now!
